Karam Hassan was born in Darfur, Sudan, a region filled with conflict, war, and genocide for over 10 years, from 2003 to 2013. He fled his homeland by boat and arrived in France as a refugee in 2014. Embracing his new environment, Karam quickly adapted, learning the language and culture, and engaging in his studies. His educational journey spanned from communication, public relations, and journalism in Sudan to e-commerce in India, culminating with a master's degree in project management. Driven by his experiences, he founded "La Voix des Réfugiés" ("The Voice of Refugees") in 2017, an association dedicated to aiding refugees' integration into French society by fostering a supportive community.
Karam's passion lies in facilitating integration and building networks for refugees, motivated by his own struggles and triumphs in starting anew in a foreign land. His initiative aims to provide refugees with essential resources for adaptation, including language learning and professional guidance, leveraging his insights to illuminate the path for others.
Currently serving as a project manager at the Foundation L’Oréal, Karam leads a program designed to assist women in precarious situations. This initiative offers training in hairdressing and makeup, alongside a beauty consultant course, benefiting over 45,000 women since 2016. Karam's journey from a refugee to a changemaker exemplifies resilience, empathy, and the desire to make a significant positive impact on society.
